For students
Student Portal Terms
For students using a tutor’s portal — short, and clear that your tutor is who you deal with.
Version 2 September 2026
Your tutor uses MyTutoringHome to organise lessons and take payments. These terms cover your use of the student portal — the pages where you see your lessons, book a time and pay.
They are between you and MyTutoringHome, the company that makes the portal. They are short, because our part is small.
1. Your tutor is who you deal with
Your lessons are with your tutor, not with us. We make the software your tutor uses. We do not teach, we do not choose or check tutors, and we are not part of the agreement between you and yours.
That means your tutor — not us — is who to talk to about:
- what a lesson costs, and when you have to pay;
- cancelling, rescheduling or missing a lesson;
- refunds, including for lessons you paid for and did not take;
- what happens to lesson credits you bought in advance;
- anything about the teaching itself.
We cannot refund you, cannot cancel a lesson on your behalf, and cannot settle a disagreement between you and your tutor.
2. Your account
Your tutor invites you; you set your own password. Keep it to yourself, and tell us at contact@mytutoringhome.com if you think someone else has it.
If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must hold and use this account, and must have agreed with your tutor that you can be added. Tutors are responsible for getting that agreement before inviting a student under 16.
3. Booking lessons
You can book inside the times your tutor has made available. Times already taken do not appear, and booking closes shortly before a lesson starts. Everything is shown in your own timezone.
Your tutor sets the rules on cancellations and no-shows. The portal applies those rules; it does not decide them.
4. Paying
Payments go straight to your tutor, through Stripe, into your tutor's own account. The money does not pass through us and we never hold it.
Before you confirm you will see the price of the lesson, and that is what you pay. Nothing is added to it — no booking fee, no processing charge, and nothing of ours. MyTutoringHome takes nothing out of it either: your tutor pays us separately for the software, and the only cost that comes off your payment is your tutor's own payment-processing cost, on their side. If that ever changes, anything we charge you will be shown separately on this same screen, before you confirm. We will never add something to a payment you have already made.
Card and bank details are entered on Stripe's pages and stay with Stripe. We never see them.
If you buy several lessons at once, those credits are your tutor's commitment to you. Ask your tutor how long they last and what happens if you stop.
5. Video calls
If your lesson is online, your tutor supplies the meeting link — Google Meet, Zoom, Teams or something else. We do not host, join or record lessons. That call is covered by whatever that provider's terms say.
6. Your personal data
Your name, email, timezone, lessons and payment history are held in the portal, and your tutor may also keep private notes about your learning.
Your tutor decides what is recorded about you, and why. We only store and process it for them. So if you want to see, correct or delete your data, ask your tutor — they are the one who can act on it. If you ask us, we will pass it straight to them and tell you we have.
How we keep it safe and where it is stored (in the EU) is in our Privacy Policy and our Data Processing Agreement with your tutor.
If you think something is wrong and your tutor is not helping, write to contact@mytutoringhome.com. You can also complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens or the data protection authority where you live.
7. Fair use
Please do not try to reach parts of the system that are not yours, break the portal, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend an account that does. If you find a security problem, tell us at contact@mytutoringhome.com — we would rather hear from you than not.
8. Availability
We work to keep the portal running, but we cannot promise it is never down. If it is, contact your tutor directly — a lesson does not depend on our software.
9. Ending it
You can stop using the portal at any time; ask your tutor to remove your record. If your tutor closes their MyTutoringHome account, your portal access ends — but anything they owe you, including lessons you have paid for, is still owed by them.
If we have to close. We are a small company, and we may one day be unable to keep the portal running. If that happens we will email you and your tutor, and the portal will keep working for at least 14 days afterwards so your tutor can take a copy of everything they hold about you. After that the portal stops and we delete the personal data we hold on your tutor's behalf. Two exceptions: payment records, which Dutch tax law requires us to keep for seven years, and the receipts for anything you paid, which come from Stripe rather than from us and are not ours to delete — your tutor keeps their full payment history in their own Stripe account. Your tutor still owes you anything you have paid for — that is between you and them, and it does not disappear with us.
10. Our responsibility
We are responsible for providing the portal with reasonable skill and care. We are not responsible for your lessons, your tutor's conduct, or money between you and your tutor.
Nothing here takes away rights you have under mandatory consumer law. If you are a consumer, you keep every one of them, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
Dutch law applies to these terms.
11. Changes and contact
If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we will tell you by email at least 30 days first. The one exception is in section 9: if we have to close the portal because we can no longer run it, the notice is at least 14 days.
